SUBJECT
Farming in Europe – What Texas could learn from there?
About Whitehurst Heritage Farms
Whitehurst Heritage Farms produces
rotationally grazed pastured egg layers, meat chickens, turkeys and pork in a way
that mimics animals' natural patterns in nature.
Following in the thought leadership
of Scandinavian agriculture they produce organic vegetables using greenhouses for
controlled environments, weather protection and season extension. To meet the
growing needs of chef/owned restaurants and consumer request of clean local
food the farm expanded in 2017 from Cypress, TX to a 57-acre property in
Brenham, TX. They believe in complete transparency in their artisan methods and
how they care for their animals and plants.
About Michael Marchand:
Successful Houston entrepreneur who co-founded
VeriTrust Records and Data Storage in 2002. In 2013 left the cushy air-conditioned
office to
return to the family’s agricultural heritage and started Whitehurst Farms.
The farm business has been a journey requiring heavy investment, hardships and
many rewards.
