About the roundtable
Our moderator Helene Honeybone will preside over the roundtable discussion, with a carefully selected group of panelists. Each panelist has extensive experience of working on green transition and sustainability issues, specifically in relation to business and economic development. They will share their insights about trends in technology, innovation, infrastructure investment, and business opportunities when individuals and organizations take steps of moving towards a green future.
One main aim of this Nordic/Texas Initiative Roundtable is to challenge our assumptions, and learn more about what can Sweden and Texas learn from each other. On the one hand, Sweden has long been known for caring about the environment and sustainability. The country has used public policies and large investments to protect nature and develop new technologies. Gothenburg is one of the cities that is taking a leading role in sustainability work. On the other hand, Texas is best known for being a world leader in the oil and gas industries, but did you know that 25% of their electricity grid is built on renewable energy sources. Cities like Austin and Dallas also have ambitious environmental goals, in relation to helping to direct economic development in their booming economies.
The organizers are Maureen McKelvey and Helene Honeybone. Maureen is Professor of Industrial Management, University of Gothenburg; Helene is an Entrepreneur and serves as Honorary Consul of Sweden in Dallas. Both are members of the SACC-Dallas Board. This webinar is co-organized between Gothenburg U-GOT KIES centre, SACC Texas in Dallas, and the Honorary Consulate of Sweden in Dallas, as part of our Nordic/Texas Initiative.
